National Park Mljet
and Odysseus cave tour
Day trips
Lakes & hidden caves with sparkling water. Don't skip your visit to the island of Mljet.
Join us for a 8-10 hours long day trip with our local skipper, a Dubrovnik man, who can tell you real stories that you cannot read anywhere. Combine it with some magical places you’ll about to see and this Mljet tour just might be the very high point of your Croatia trip.
Mljet is known as the greenest island in Croatia and it’s the only island in Croatia with two inland lakes.
But it’s not only for the lakes that people want to see this island which is not vasty popular among tourist so you can spend you day here far from the typical crowds. Upon stepping your foot on the island, you’ll know why it’s so special. You’ll just sense it. The magic. Everywhere. But for those who know hidden gems of the island it’s even more spectacular.
It has to do with Greek mythology and the hero called Odysseus, famed for his plan to sack the city of Troy using a giant hollow horse. He is also famous for his odyssey, or long journey, which lasted for a decade. And on that journey he visited Mljet and stayed there for seven years!
The legends says that after surviving a shipwreck, Odysseus found shelter in a cave on the coast of the island of Mljet. There, he fell in love with the island and the nymph Calypso so he decided to stay on the Island for seven years.
We’re 100% sure you’ll know the reason why as soon as you set your eyes on the cave from the inside. And, yes, you can swim in it!

What To Expect
Your day trip to National Park Mljet begins at Dubrovnik Harbour in Gruž port where our experienced Skipper will be waiting for you (and we can also arrange hotel pickup so you don’t have to worry about getting to the cruise starting point).
After a 90-min ride, we’ll reach the greenest island in Croatia and our destination- the National Park Mljet.
Our Mljet boat tour starts at Pomena where you can buy tickeets to enter the Mljet National Park with the help of our skipper. You’ll have two hours to enjoy the nature and take every photo advantage of being by two saltwater lakes with a Monastery of Saint Mary in the middle of the bigger one. If you wonder whether the water is salty or not- it’s salty- because the lakes are connected to the sea by a narrow passage.
The second part of our journey is focused on the south side of the island of Mljet where we’ll visit the beautiful Odysseus cave.
The Odysseus cave is a large egg- shaped cave, with both inland and sea access. Inland access if for those who like very steep stairs, so most people prefer to swim into the cave.
Put your swimsuit on and swim right into the cave through a 5-meter wide entrance. And don’t forget to bring your waterproof camera, it’s a place which you’ll want to show others for sure.
We’ll have a lunch break during the day and more swimming/snorkelling opportunities to enjoy during the day. Our skipper is at your disposal and willing to change plans if everyone on board wishes to stay someplace for a shorter or longer time.
Happily tired after a day long trip to this marvelous national park, relax in the boat on our way back to Dubrovnik sipping a glass of top domestic wine from the nearby islands.
