What To Expect
Your day trip to Korcula starts at Dubrovnik Harbour in Gruž port at 8.30, when the sun is still low.
As we leave Dubrovnik, we sail past many beautiful mini islands before reaching the peninsula od Peljesac and then finally the island of Korcula.
The medieval city of Korcula might remind you of Dubrovnik because of it’s Venetian-styled arhitecture. The view of the town is impressive as it is surrounded by walls, imposing gates and towers, immersed into water from three sides. Be prepared to walk many stairs leading to narrow streets offering much needed shadow in hot summer days. You find many shops and souvenirs dedicated to Marco Polo, as this is his alleged birthplace. Get your camera ready because Korcula Old Town is packed with photo opportunities.
After history and culture lessons, it’s time for nature and biology. A very short trip from the Old Town of Korcula will take us a miniature isle of Badija. Wild deers roam freely here since 1958 when two pairs were brought from Brijuni. Now there are at least ten of them on the island. They are really tame so you can pet them or even take a selfie with those cute creatures before you decide it’s finally beach time!
Look carefully and you’ll find small hidden beaches among rocks. You might have a beach for yourself because some of them are as tiny as a towel.
For those who love wild unpolished nature and great wines, Peljesac will be the highlight of this day trip from Dubrovnik. A rough island like Peljesac is not a celebrity sightings spot, but it’s a superb spot for enjoying life. Just taste the island through its wines.
After a long journey we head back to Dubrovnik, celebrating good life with a drink of your choice.
